On November 1, 1987, Mark purchased an existing tax and accounting practice from Terry Welch, and then moved the firm from Nekoma, Illinois to its present location in Altona, Illinois.

Mark was raised on a grain and livestock farm in Northern Illinois, and was the owner/manager of a 500 sow to feeder pig operation in Amboy, Illinois before he became the owner of Compton Accounting. With his past experience and work in the agriculture field, Mark specializes in tax and accounting work for farmers. In addition to the day-to-day work of running the firm, Mark stays current with all of the required course work to ensure he stays up to date with tax and accounting laws.

Mark is an Enrolled Agent (EA), Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA), Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP), Accredited Business Advisor (ABA), and Accredited Retirement Advisor (ARA), and he is a member of the Independent Accountants Association of Illinois (IAAI), the National Society of Accountants (NSA), the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP), and the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA).

When away from the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his family; managing family farms, senior living duplexes, a car wash and mini storage units; and mowing.
