A Brief History.... Compton Accounting was started in 1985 in the basement of the Compton's rural Oneida, Illinois home. Mark started a service of computerized hog records for a few area farmers and not long afterwards, began keeping accounting records for them as well. In November of 1987, he purchased the accounting practice of Terry Welch in Nekoma, Illinois and moved the business to that location. In August of 1991, he purchased the former lumberyard building of Houghton Lumber Company in Altona, Illinois. After some quick remodeling he was in by September and has remained at that location ever since. He felt it was a good move due to the fact that he needed more room and the location is very accessible. October 1, 2005 was the grand opening of our branch office in New Windsor, Illinois.  Mark purchased the practice of Arnold Bonnett.  The business has been in operation for 41 years providing accounting and income tax services.  The office manager is Jean Barrington.  Jean graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Ag-business and is also an Enrolled Agent with the IRS.
